Reducir root ( / ) lvm file system

Hola listeros,

  Estoy buscando información de como reducir el root ( / ) lvm file system en RHEL4.  Estuve investigando en la web y encontre infrmación al respecto, pero ninguna me funciona.  Todas hablan de que reinicie el sistema con el cd #1 en rescue mode y ejecute una secuencia de comandos, pero igual no me funciona.  Algo así como lo siguiente:

Boot with rescue CD. Skip mounting of the system partitions.

# lvm vgchange -a y
# e2fsck -f /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00
# resize2fs -f /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 10G
# lvreduce -L10G /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00

I recieved a message "Please run e2fsck -f /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00" when trying to run resize2fs (even after I had run e2fsck) so I added the -f switch to force the resize. All went well.
