dav o ftp?

HTTP tiene mas opciones de seguridad que FTP, es mas versátil y permite mas 
configuraciones que un FTP, aunque sea un FTP TOP... el protocolo FTP es mas 
pobre que el HTTP, lo que no he podido encontrar personalmente, es una 
configuración que permita el acceso a los usuarios a sus HOMEs porque webdav 
funciona como el usuario apache, y de hecho apache solo cambia los usuarios 
con suexec, algo vi de un suphp, pero no me quedo muy claro que es lo que 
hace eso.
