Problemas para reiniciar KDE desde RedHat

Acabo de borra algunos archivos del /tmp porque estaba lleno
y me doy la sorpresa que no puedo reiniciar el desktop en 
gráfico, sale este mensaje:

$ startx
xauth:  creating new authority file /procon/.Xauthority
xauth:  creating new authority file /procon/.Xauthority


Fatal server error:
PAM authentication failed, cannot start X server.
        Perhaps you do not have console ownership?

o con:

$ kdeinit

Si podrían darme solución a este pequeño impace, suponiendo
que todo lo que está en /tmp es basura o me equivoco.
