Problemas con IEEE1394

Señores
Hace ya un buen tiempo que he tenido el problema de no poder montar mi
disco extermo firewire en linux, solo logro montarlo en modo usb y no
quiero asi porque solo tengo usb 1.1 y la velocidad de acceso al disco
es un chiste, por eso tengo una tarjeta firewire y ahi conecto el disco
y me da los siguientes mensajes:

obviamente filtre todo lo que no tiene relacion a ieee1394
yo recuendo cuando usaba mandrake que podia trabajar bien con mi disco
firewall pero desde la version 9.2 en adelante ya no, lo he probado con
redhat, fedora 1 y 2 y ahora con debian y no funka por ningun lado,
ahora estoy con debian sid con kernel 2.6.7-1-686.
he googleado mucho ya y solo encuentro la misma pregunta que yo hago
pero en ingles :)
alguna idea?
